Puerto Escondido
We have found our home. At least for a while….
Puerto Escondido is a paridise — A huge and very protected bay with a new marina and developing resort (not snooty) tucked up against the Sierra de la Giganta mountain range. It’s a true hurricane hole if there ever was one as well. While secluded, Loreto is only a 25 minute drive north.
We are staying here for June and July and cruising the Bahia Loreto Parque National’s five major islands. The park also includes numerous bays, sea mounts, and islets. The park is over 2,000 square kilometers, roughly 25nm x 100nm of glorious cruising grounds. If you go a little further you also can include the massive Bahia Conception and all its cruising grounds. You could spend a lifetime here.
We will still head north for peak hurricane season between August and October, but we will be back here in November and staying through the summer. We are in no rush to leave the Sea of Cortez now that we have dropped the hustle and bustle of the Cabo and La Paz areas.
We met up with friends from Crescendo and Zypher for a couple of days too.
